At Vets in Endeavour Hills, we are dedicated to providing desexing services so you can ensure your dog’s health and well-being. Desexing, which includes spaying and neutering, is a surgical procedure that prevents unwanted pregnancies in dogs and offers multiple health and behavioural benefits.

In Victoria, the general guideline is to desex small dogs around seven months of age, while larger dogs are typically desexed between 10 months and two years, based on their breed, sex, and any existing health conditions.

Desexing Options?

For Male Dogs

  • Permanent Surgical Desexing (Castration): Involves the removal of the testicles through surgery.
  • Temporary Contraception (Suprelorin): An implant that provides temporary contraception, giving you the chance to observe behavioural changes before deciding on permanent surgery.

For Female Dogs

  • Spaying: The removal of the ovaries and uterus through surgery.
