Dog and Puppy Vaccinations

Puppies, under-vaccinated or immunocompromised dogs, are at high risk for infectious diseases. Even if your fur baby doesn’t meet other dogs, they can still pick up harmful viruses and bacteria from surfaces like paths, grassy areas, and water sources. Vaccinations help protect your dog from catching diseases.

What We Vaccinate Against

At Vets in Endeavour Hills, we administer vaccinations for five core diseases that can significantly impact your puppy’s health:

Puppy Vaccination Schedule

Our vaccination schedule is designed to provide optimal protection for your puppy at every developmental stage.

First booster

6–8 weeks

Second booster

10–12 weeks

Third booster

16 weeks

First Annual Vaccination

12 months after the final booster

Dog Vaccinations Schedule

Throughout their life, and especially in their old age, it’s important to keep up with your furry friend’s booster vaccinations to ensure ongoing immunity. At Vets in Endeavour Hills, we follow a triennial vaccination schedule. This means after your dog’s first adult vaccination, they will receive the full C5 vaccine every three years and their Canine Cough vaccine annually.

Ongoing Vaccinations

Is Your Dog Attending Daycare or Going To Boarding?

If you’re considering sending your puppy or dog to daycare or boarding, it’s essential that they are fully vaccinated. Many facilities require up-to-date vaccinations before accepting puppies or dogs.

Let’s talk pets

If we surveyed pet owners about potential allergy symptoms in dogs and cats, most would list signs such as recurrent ear infections, generalised itchiness, paw licking, or tummy upset.
Whilst most owners understand the impact of their pet’s oral health on their general health and quality of life, many may still need clarification on the practical ways to achieve excellent pet dental hygiene.
How many amazing medical skills and services do our veterinary hospitals have to offer? To show you, we’d like to tell the story of little Morris, who had an unfortunate run-in with a car.
Whether you’re purchasing a special breed pup or scouting out local rescues to adopt a canine companion, it’s important to research and plan for your future dog’s specific care needs.

FAQs

When can I take my puppy out?
You can take your puppy out seven to ten days after the 12-week vaccination. With two vaccinations and their mother’s antibodies on board, they should have sufficient protection to be able to start interacting with other dogs and exploring new environments.
Most puppy schools will accept puppies from nine weeks of age, provided they have had their first vaccination and passed a health check.
Vaccinating a pregnant dog is generally not advised, as certain vaccines may pose risks to the mother and her puppies. It is recommended to vaccinate them before breeding/ pregnancy occurs.
Yes, a complete health examination is needed before vaccinating your dog. This ensures they’re in good health, as certain conditions could get exasperated if vaccinated without care.
