De-sexing is by far the most common surgery performed at our Endeavour Hills clinic. We recommend that dogs and cats of both sexes undergo this procedure to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the likelihood of some health problems later in life. Vets in Endeavour Hills recommend booking your pet in for the procedure when male and female cats are at 12-16 weeks of age, and male and female dogs 6-13 months of age.

Although the veterinary surgeries we perform at our Endeavour Hills animal hospital are relatively safe and have a high success rate, there are still some risks associated with undergoing anaesthesia. To minimize the risks associated with anaesthesia, we recommend a pre-anaesthetic blood test which is available as an optional extra for our surgery patients. These tests check organ function and often uncover pre-existing health conditions which affect how your pet responds to anaesthetic.
